Résumé Tips

DO:                                                                            

·         Keep it short (1 page if possible)      

·         Write in phrases

·         Use action words 

·         Use reader-friendly font size (at least 10 point)

·         Leave some white space (1” margins)

·         Use black ink

·         Print on good quality paper (white or ivory)

·         PROOF READ IT!

·         Ask a friend to proof it

DON’T:

·         Don't use long sentences

·         Don't write in passive voice

·         Don't use contractions

·         Don't print on colored or lightweight paper

·         Don't use multiple fonts

·         Don't underline or bold text excessively (never do both!)

·         Don't fold your resume when mailing

DON'T send it to an employer until you are sure it is error-free!
